1975 Rowing A Boat-neck...

This is my pride and joy 1975 Fender CBS 3-Bolt Sunburst Stratocaster. It has a 4lb. 6oz. Alder Body and a fantastic Warmoth CBS Pro Construction quarter-sawn flame maple neck, boat-neck profile, SS 6105 fret-wire, Indian Rosewood board, 1 11/16” nut width. The Boat-neck V-profile was softened very slightly by me mostly between 1st to 6th fret; I built violins in the '80s and have a feel for profiling necks. After the neck was played and fully tweaked a light vintage tint and several coats of gloss Nitro Lacquer was applied, it is non-stick thanks to ultra fine steel wool, buffing and time. The original sunburst finish is in the style found mostly on Jazz basses where the black border is somewhat narrow and the red extends deep in the horns.
The guitar is equipped with a Fender Engine Turned Pick-guard, older Van Zandt Blues Pickups, 3-way switch, Guenther jack plate, a 57/62 Fender hardtail bridge, Vintage Kluson turners and GHS Nickel Rockers. The Pro Construction neck is secured to the body with a ProAttach kit.
I was very lucky to acquire an original Custom sticker from friends of SRV who reside in Canada so the guitar was built around the sticker. The body was acquired over 5 years ago when 70's bodies were affordable. Below the Custom sticker is the signature of Ray Hennig who is the owner of Heart of Texas Music in Austin. Ray is a Texas legend and the gentleman who sold SRV the Stratocaster known as Number One or First Wife. Ray and his shop are in the SRV tribute "Little Wing" on the Live From Austin CD.
The '75 Boatneck combo is a player’s guitar, it oozes vibe and it is an absolute pleasure to play and own. The neck is very stable, action feels the same every time it's taken out of the case thanks to Warmoth's Pro Construction design.

Your opening line and your guitar reminded me of SRV. Sweet guitar dude... I bet you could even get his tones pretty nailed with those pups!
