24 fret overhang - fill the gap?

has anyone explored a way to fill the gap on a 24 fret overhang? I’m seeing a 24 fret Arcade and V-K in the Screaming Deals that might make a killer metal guitar.

That gap that’s “meh” on a 22 fret looks ridiculous to me on a 24 fret. Maybe even some of that EPDM foam that Aaron lines his Floyd pocket with? A little piece of rosewood/ebony trimmed right to the size of the gap? Something else?

If youre handy with a router then you could do your own 720 mod to lower the neck in the pocket.

Your other option of filling it with a thing piece of wood could work well too. Foam would bother me but at the end of the day it not my guitar

I am not good enough with a router. (I’d be interested in a tutorial on how you’d do it though)

I’m thinking the wood might work well.

There is a description of the mod they offer here (https://warmoth.com/guitar-body-neck-pockets) . If you are familiar with routers and have the appropriate template follower bit, then its really straight forward to do. On a VK body, you would likely need to support the router with a riser or have an extended base.

Seeing as that VK body is also unfinished, you might give them a call or email and see if its possible to add the 720 mod before they ship.

Otherwise, adding a piece of wood under the neck would work well.

Yes, I’m familiar with the 720 mod, and I have a bit that has the bearing to follow a profile, but I think building the “base” around the body might be a touch too far for my skills. Tracing and cutting with a scroll saw might be a little more my speed.
