I need a Jazzmaster rout on the standard Tele body

I can't think why it wouldn't be feasible. Wouldn't it be a quick cut and paste from one body style to another? I know there my be a little more to it than that, but it would be a nice option to have. Pretty please?

    It's been a while

You changed the place around a bit I see. I just thought I'd pop my head in as I has a question (see elsewhere for that), but thought I ought to at least say hello...  :glasses10:

What would you put these on then?

SD Custom Shop Phat Staples... I have my own ideas, but what would you do with a set?

I have a fretboard finishing question

OK, so I've not been around much recently  :toothy11: I'm wondering how I'd be best going about getting an ebony type finish on the ipe (ironwood) fingerboard of 'Braveheart'. You know, that very smooth, slightly waxy sheen ebony gets. It's been cleaned up with some 0000 grade steel wool...

Anybody got an amber dyed maple cap I could look at?

Curious to see how they look - got an idea festering again...

    Hmmm.... Me Likey!

Wenge neck with the 'W' headstock and a ziricote fingerboard? Gold fittings perhaps. Know nothing about bass pickups & active stuff though - anyone suggest anything that would do this justice?

Can Warmoth do one of these sort of satin finishes?

From the PRS site. These sort of satin finishes really appeal to me. From what I can see, I'm just assuming that they don't grain fill before applying the finish, but there's perhaps more to it than that. It looks like the sort of thing that would work well on either mahogany (as here) or swamp ash.

    Braveheart's Battleaxe

OK, I guess you've waited long enough - not my best set of pics, but I'm sure you won't mind. Some details: An LP mahogany body  with a maple top and a 'crushed steel' finish. The bridge/tailpiece and tuners are Gotoh 501, the pickups are a Seymour Duncan Alt8 at the bridge and Jazz at...

    What does that do then?

Just noticed the flickrgroup button on the posting toolbar - not mentioned in help that I can see - anyone know what it does?

Now here's a funny story (Koa related)

Not every day you read something quite like this - Koa Strat Body What were you on Jerry?

    Eyesight...

Really must get round to sorting out reading glasses. 2 or 3 solder joints and I'm finding I need to give my eyes a rest. I've worn glasses full time for the last 30 odd years and have been able to do close up work without an issue - used to be an air communications technician in the Royal Air...

Hidden ground wire for Hipshot bass saddles

This would probably only work for laminate topped bass bodies, but I can't help thinking it ought to be possible to route a small channel behind where the Hipshot saddles sit on a bass body. Is that even remotely possible?

    A 'Braveheart' in progress

No pics I'm afraid, however, though you might like to know how things are going. Well so far, the following has been completed: bridge & tailpiece studs fitted, control cavity copper foil screened and soldered, neck fitted to the body, tuners fitted to headstock [repair detailed elsewhere]...

Help! Head Snapped Off Tuner Screw...

OK, a little problem with 'Braveheart'. Tonight I finally got moving with assembling it all. Unfortunately on the very first screw I tried to fit at the back of the tuner, the screw bound in the pilot hole I drilled and the head snapped off. The remaining part of the screw is beneath the surface...

Liberon Tung Oil - Anyone tried this brand?

Just curious as to whether anyone has tried this brand - Liberon Tung Oil. Given that it seems to be the easiest brand to find in the UK, I'm wondering whether anyone has any experience with it and how it might compare with what's available in the US.

    I blame Dave Grohl

For the first time ever, I have not one but two guitars (inc. the W Strat) set up in dropped D and they've been like that for more than 24 hours - what is the world coming to?  :icon_scratch:

    Speed Knobs & Push-Push Pots?

Is that a safe combination? Just wondering whether it's a good idea using a push-on knob with the pot in case I need to remove it in the future. Is it OK so long as the pot switch is in the "UP" position when trying to remove it?
