    stripped neck holes

I have a Warmoth koa neck that the mounting hole has stripped. I want to drill it out and put an insert into it, where can I get the insert in Germany? I need it pretty quick.... (I can't do online orders because I don't have a working credit card at the moment)

I will not do another stainless steel fret on bound neck again

Back to my second acoustic guitar, I now understand why Warmoth won't install stainless steel frets on bound neck. While SS frets are hard to install and trim on an unbound neck on a bound neck things just got harder. There are no easy way to remove the tang for the binding other than grinding...

    flatsawn or quartersawn mahogany?

I got a piece of 1.25"x5.5"x40" piece of mahogany that I will be using as necks. The piece appears to be flatsawn but one side of the piece seems to have 45 degree off quarter. I know Fender used flatsawn necks for over 50 years without issue, but they used maple not sure if it will make a...

    my second acoustic build

Well last year I decided that buying pre-made parts and painting them isn't really building a guitar so I decided to try my hands at building acoustics. My first build is like usual, fraught with perils and screwups. Well I successfully completed my first build but it still had blemishes...

    Malagsy rosewood

What is Malagsy rosewood? I seen it on some showcase items but there are nothing about this on the "wood description" page. Is it Madagascar rosewood?

    Thai stick jazz bass

Well I call this thai stick because this neck took a trip to Thailand by accident. The body is 3 piece swamp ash mighty mite body. I got it unfinished which is a good thing because finished mighty mite body tends to have really thick poly paint on it... they're quite nice given the price too...

what kind of glue does Warmoth use to glue the fingerboard?

I was just wondering, what kind of glue does Warmoth use to glue the fingerboard to the neck, do they use hide glue? is it possible to remove them if the need should arise?

    This just in

Here is the neck that got sent to Thailand by mistake: I'd say it was well worth the wait... This has one coat of tru-oil on it. I prefer not staining it because I don't want to stain it then regret it later on. but to avoid this next time: Please on all package that goes to Taiwan write...

my neck got sent to Thailand

Come on, guys, why is it (over and over again) people confuse Taiwan with Thailand? I mean both countries are totally different! Thailand is still a backwater third world country and Taiwan is comparable to the USA in terms of human rights/economic ability and stuff. So now that my neck's in...

    help choosing a bass

I am thinking of building a bass but with limited budget in mind. I am tired of making strats mind you... I could use a bass however I was interested in the gecko bass because it looks real unique, however I wonder about having a 5 string bass since I am not really a bass player so should I go...

    why doesn't warmoth...

design their own guitar shape and sell them as parts like the gecko? I mean with all these lawyers saying you can't do this and that maybe Warmoth can go original and that ways lawyers can't touch them.

    I can't believe what I just got!

I ordered a plain maple SRV contour vintage modern neck... look what the postman brought me today... I never seen this much figure in any plain maple neck I ordered...

    DIY 4x12 cab completed.

I am finished with my 4x12 cab. I am just waiting for speakers. Spent about 5 hours covering the whole thing and I used contact cement so the whole room is filled with noxious fumes. The corners didn't turn out as well as I want because I didn't cut them correctly. I tried some of the guides out...

    412 cab progress

I decided to cut out the speakers. I was messing around with spacing and decided 1.5 inch from the edge of baffle (where the speaker begins) and the centers being 7 inch from the edge of the baffle the best compromise. I tried centering them more but it ended up with an overcrowded baffle. My...

haven't been doing much with guitars lately

I have one Eden northern ash body that's sitting there waiting for sanding sealer because it's too cold and wet to paint... and probably will stay that way for a few weeks... Can someone suggest a paint scheme? I was going to do it in paint but maybe cherryburst is an option here?? In the...

    chameleon finish

I seen a Chameleon strat body on showcase a long time ago, is there any reason why Warmoth won't offer a chameleon finish? lack of demand?

    new guitar is finished..

I had a disaster when fitting hardware to the neck, the paint on the headstock peeled off, I guess it wouldn't stick to shellac... but I figured that the finish that's left still looks good and the flame isn't obscured by the lacquer so I decided to flake the rest of the finish off and leave it...

    Installing Planet Wave tuners

On a Warmoth neck that is drilled for Schaller they usually drill a 3/8 inch hole with a smaller hole on the peghead, unfortunately a planetwave tuner wouldn't fit because planet wave requires a 3/8 inch hole all the way through, so take the 3/8 inch bit, run it in reverse and just push it...

I got my (flamed) Koa neck... I am speechless!

Well post office just dropped off my neck, and I was real anxious to see what I was getting. I mean I paid more than my first showcase koa neck spec for koa and I kept expecting that it'd be plain as hell koa (that would look no different from mahogany to boot, seen too much of those kind of...

    Body done, neck is next...

Note: The "neck" is not a neck, it's a paint stick used to suspend the guitar in mid air while painting or drying. I store the body this way now to prevent any case fuzz or whatever from ruining an otherwise great finish... I am done polishing after pretty much wearing out my drill and my hand...
