    Cut pg

I’ve been planning to get a pickguard blank from Warmoth and replace the one on my Cyclone. Then I just realized I should you pros if there’s a specific tool I need to use. I’ve got a regular hack saw and coping saw and plenty of sand paper. Thanks

    stratty!

YES BROWN! What a way to come home from work. Vintage body to go with a great canary neck I got a few years ago. I thought I knew what color I wanted, but now I might do clear based on these pics. Swamp ash is a miracle of the earth.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwxlTr3AK3F/?igshid=1whhlnn8e43qk This is my favorite project. Roasted boatneck feels like coming home. The only thing I’d like to improve is taking the gloss off the mint pickguard so it more matches the flat finish. Any suggestions?

    4 switch

I've done a Tele with the 4 way switch where you add another ground wire to the neck pickup cover. I want to try it with two Strat pickups. I read that with the Tele, if you don't reground the cover, then the cover would be hot and shock you. With Strat pickups, does that mean the pole pieces...

A question for you helpful people: The pic doesn't show it, but the white stain I used went a little yellowish in the open grained streaks of the ash. I didn't use grain filler. Would it be worth it to sand it down to 220 grit, grain fill, re-stain, then re-poly?

    Thanks Brown!

Last night I applied Minwax "charcoal" stain and 3 coats of wipe on poly and leveled frets and put pickups in their homes (more fiddly than past projects for some reason). Tonight I installed tuners and back ferrules. I'll let the finish set for a few days before bolting things down. I like...

I was expecting to come home to these boxes, but they showed up just after I woke up. It's gonna be a real long day at work waiting to get back to it! My first fully new  project in 3 years. Vintage Tele, Total Vintage neck (roast maple, boatneck: a personal first!)

Fully agree. It would be my biggest suggestion for Fender if I went back in time: Make Mustangs comparable to Strats and Teles please!

Yet another of my long-delayed projects finally graduates. Guys, I tried several pickups and switching on this one. JB Jr/Lil 59, Surf 90s, GFS Retrotrons, plain Strat singles. Eventually I found a Dream 90 at the neck alone was the sound it wanted. It was living with an empty humbucker bridge...
