Can Tru-Oil be painted over? Would the paint adhere, or would it react badly?

A friend gave this to me last weekend. Don't know the exact year, but it's a '89-'94 Peavey Generation Tele-style. Made in USA, and customized with Amalfitano pickups, 4-way switch, and a home-made pickguard.

Just curious; has anyone built a Warmoth Tele to resemble the Mad Cat (like the one Prince was known for playing)?

And here it is. It's for Soloist #2 (Warmoth #5). Vintage-Modern, Standard Thin, roasted maple, pau ferro FB, 6115 SS frets, Tusq Earvana nut, 9.5"-14" radius.

Why was it done away with?

I usually do my own contoured heels (Fender style) but on my latest Soloist project, I went with the contoured heel option from Warmoth. The reason for this is because the body is roasted swamp ash and getting a natural finish (no paint), so I don't want to be doing any carving on it. Now here's...

The term "parts-guitar". I find it derogatory, and I believe it is used to berate guitars such as those we build with Warmoth bodies & necks (or other manufacturers). I find the idea snobbish that the name of someone else (or a corporation) needs to be on my guitar or else it's some inferior...

So I have 2 complete Warmoth builds from 2010 (Soloist) and 2014 (Strat). I started 2 more in early 2019 (Strat & Tele), and then...... I got distracted & unmotivated. So now, 3-1/2 years later (where did the time go??), my motivation has returned, but NOW I'm waiting on my professional painter...
