Thanks everybody!
One day I'd like to try my hand at making my own necks (I imagine it would take some practice to get them as nice as Warmoth), but I think this is legitimately my last build for the near future.
The problem with guitars (and especially Warmoth builds) is they always seem to...
Many humbucker base plates are made of nickel-silver alloy like this https://www.mojotone.com/Humbucker-Short-Leg-Frame-Nickel-Silver-49-2mm
I don't think you'll find a steel one
Well, she's all done! Pickup rings are still a bit lighter colored than I'd like, but this guitar really turned out killer! Sounds and plays great and is also really comfortable.
Looks great! I would not have thought to put dye on a koa top, but after the sanding and resin it looks really good!
Yes, the sticker should come off (y)
Finally got the knobs and pickup rings! They're really nice looking, but a little lighter toned than the ziricote on my guitar. I think if I wipe them with a bit of mineral oil they'll darken up some.
You can get a rear route body without a top laminate in most shapes. Diamondback is definitely not the only option.
But if you do go with a Diamondback, it's just as deep as the other Warmoth bodies; plenty of room for push/pull pots. You'll want long shaft pots for any Warmoth rear routed body.
