How much meat on a Precision neck?

Edit - not sure why those images aren't loading. I can see them in preview, just not after posting.

How much meat on a Precision neck?

Not of the process. Only the results. Here is is after three rubs of tru oil. You'd never know. Still thinking on how to reduce nut width. Neck plays way better after reducing the profile heft. I think it would be even better if I could get the nut width from the current 43mm as...

How much meat on a Precision neck?

Well i'll be. I hit the neck with sandpaper for an hour, knocking back where my hand was interfering with the profile. I probably took only 1mm off the back, 2mm off the steep of the shoulders, and it feels like an entirely new guitar. 120G sanding belt rocking back and forth, then 240G and...

How much meat on a Precision neck?

I don't think I did enough research before ordering my precision bass neck - it's 43mm wide at the nut and a standard profile, which apparently is pretty standard for a vintage P bass... I just wish I had access to a vintage P so I would have known this is not for me 😂😥 Selling this neck and...

Proud locking nut - best practise to improve action?

Hi all. I've just put together a new superstrat with locking system. Action is a little high near the nut, as a result notes played on the first few frets are pulling sharp ever so slightly when fretted. Most noticeable on the bass strings. I want to try and resolve. Just wondering what...

    De-Floyding a guitar

Hi all I've built quite a few Wamoth-based projects over the years.  One of them has a locking tremolo that I think I want to delete.  I chose to install a Schaller locking bridge, knowing if it didn't work out, there was a Vintage Tremolo option I could replace it with.  And that's now my...

    Any recent Aussie customers?

G'day folks.  Looking for feedback from recent Warmoth customers from Australia. Any comment on current shipping turnaround times? If I were to order something in the next week, what is a realistic timeframe to my doorstep? Well aware that shipping delays are par for course at the moment. ...

Not happy with new body, but what can I do?

Question - is there a correct way to wire the bridge to ground? I've built a couple of guitars that seem to pick up radio interference when I go through the process of plugging in.  Only on the guitars i've built. Let me be clear - there's no radio noise once plugged in.  But the process of...

Not happy with new body, but what can I do?

Very brown.  Shall I call her Herringbrown? An interesting observation: this body is so light, that together the combo seems to encourage more neck dive than when paired with the white jazz body.  So if anyone else is chasing an all roast p-bass, maybe best to stick with a thinner neck...

Not happy with new body, but what can I do?

Three coats of tru oil later: The ugly duckling became a... umm.. beautiful duck?  :icon_scratch: Photo - Frankensteining in progress.  White body to be replaced.  The Jazz body is swamp ash.  I might keep for a rainy day. Why the change?  The P body straddles me better when sitting.  And...

Not happy with new body, but what can I do?

Hahaha!  That made me laugh. If I knew what this icing design was called, it will become the name of my bass  :laughing7:

Not happy with new body, but what can I do?

There's healthy mineral streaking, and unhealthy mineral streaking. Mineral streaks that run perpendicular to the grain - that's scar tissue.  Scar tissue is damage.  The photos in the OP show of cracks in the grain that have somewhat healed over in later years.  Maybe another tree fell on it...

Not happy with new body, but what can I do?

G'day from Australia :) I've just received a roasted alder p-bass body to replace the jazz body on my Warmoth bass.  I just find p- bodies that little bit more comfortable. I was over the moon then my partner called me to say it had finally arrived.  I raced home at light speed to get my...

    Angled pocket to straight

The guitars in question: Thanks for the replies guys.  The template method is probably the best way to do it, and easy enough to DIY a template with the X-carve.  I'm also tempted to preset the X-Carve height (Z-axis is adjustable to 1/10th of a mm) and push the body around underneath.  I'll...

    Angled pocket to straight

The X-Carve can do 3D no problems - it just depends on the software you use.  That said - there's nothing about routing a tremolo cavity that you couldn't do with the basic/no-frills X-Carve software (Easel)... unless you're shooting for an Ibanez Jem/claw type cavity. And no - I don't need it...

    Angled pocket to straight

I have a pair of all-Warmoth superstrats.  One guitar has a floating Floyd Rose tremolo setup, the other has an angled neck pocket and a flush-to-body Floyd Rose tremolo.  I much prefer the floating setup, so I would like to modify the other to the same layout. Taking measurements is proving...

1991 American Standard Strat needs a new neck

How about a pic of my other Warmoths... and a Fender?  The old white strat is the one in question. The white superstrat has a Jazzmaster neck - I just wasn't sure how Am Std specs may have drifted over the last 25 years, for me to screw one on ol' faithful.  I'd rather have a good fit...

1991 American Standard Strat needs a new neck

Thanks for the response.  Currently has an all maple neck, but i'm probably going to swap to a rosewood fretboard. Stainless steel frets?  Absolutely.  As on all my guitars.  Roasted maple?  Maybe.  Would save me forking out for vintage tint I guess.  I have a p-bass with a Warmoth roasted...

1991 American Standard Strat needs a new neck

1991 Fender American Standard Stratocaster.  I've owned this since new.  The neck has already been refretted twice, needs doing again - I think it's time to put this neck into retirement. A few questions: - will a Warmoth showroom strat neck be a drop in replacement for a 1991 American...

    Lime/white washed Black Korina pics?

I've googled around but found nothing.  Looking for pics of black korina wearing a lime/white wash, or even under a Mary Kay white finish. If anyone has any pics of a black korina guitar wearing one of these finishes, i'd love to see it.
