    Planning for 2-humbucker Strat

It’s great to hear the plan coming together, isn’t it! From your description, “but in general it's a very nice, warm PAF tone with better clarity than traditional buckers”, it seems we had similar results. I wonder if it’s in the cap? I wasn’t as happy with the .022. I found the series/parallel...

    Does anyone else like/collect knives?

Not a collector at all…in fact, this post reminded me that they were here! They’ve been in my home for over 45 years. The German Dress Dagger was brought home by my father after WWII. I won the bowie knife at a raffle, the other two were given to me by an Air Force MP.

I used the .015 tone cap also. It works well in my build.

    Planning for 2-humbucker Strat

The Martin I owned with the Richlite board, a "sustainable", was an SWOMGT...Smart wood, OM size, Gloss top. It had cherry back and sides, spruce top. I swear, I loved that guitar, always a "companion". I woke up one day in a funk and sold it and have been kicking myself over that ever since.

    Planning for 2-humbucker Strat

It’s fun, aggravating and expensive to dial one in. And just a great experience! I can’t help with single coil or single coil size humbuckers. I am really happy with the jazz tone of the Dimarzio 36th Anniversary pickups. The series/parallel and coil splitting works really well also. My...

    NPD...

One more thumbs up for the Polytune products. The clip on version is an excellent tuner but I didn’t find it “comforting” for setting intonation. The pedal feels “positive” for both. Both wonderful products.

Strat style for a jazzier style.

Alrighty, this should be the last post on this one. I mentioned that I wasn’t happy with the stacked pots…way too tall to be comfortable. And then reaching between them to hit the DPDT switch just griped me…quite a bit. So I ordered yet another pick guard with only the slot for a blade switch...

    Planning for 2-humbucker Strat

Thanks… I had three other wiring configurations. -Standard 1V, 2T and DPDT for series/parallel -Push Pull for series/parallel -Stacked tone/volume pots and DPDT switches for series/parallel. Nothing felt “right” until the current setup. Be sure to think about the ergonomics and ease of use. I...

    Planning for 2-humbucker Strat

Press on Bruce! I am very happy with my Warmoth HH Strat style with Gibson scale maple neck. It produces a very sweet “jazz” type tone but does have a little strat snap…key word “little”. If you mount the humbucker in the bridge position, you may get a bit more. Honestly, I get all the warmth...

Post What Jazz You're Listening To

I found him a few months ago when searching for alternate versions of “Ain’t No Sunshine”…I get tired of covering it the standard way. I appreciate his melodic lead lines. And dang, THAT TONE!!! He’s moved to #1 on my smooth jazz playlist. He covers “Every Breath You Take” also.
