    Warmoth neck heel markings

Someone has posted a Warmoth neck for sale locally, but they didn’t post the specs. They did, however, post a semi legible photo of the neck heel as follows: I’m know what everything means except for the handwritten marking in the top, left hand corner. To me, it appears to be “WL”, but I...

Purple dyed Strat, 18 years later

I don’t keep mine behind glass, but I do hang them on the wall as functional art and for easy access when I want to play them.

Purple dyed Strat, 18 years later

I loved and still love the color saturation it had when it was new, but it’s been played on hundreds of gigs and picked up its fair share of nicks and dings over the past 18 years. As cool as the original color is, I really dig the faded look too. Poly doesn’t wear away and relic like nitro...

Purple dyed Strat, 18 years later

Keeping it in its case will slow the change in color, but it happens so gradually that you don’t really notice it until you can see the comparison. Besides, I think it’s a shame to keep a gorgeous piece of wood hidden when it’s not in use.

Purple dyed Strat, 18 years later

I had to pay five bucks to access my old Photobucket account, but that was the only place I could find a copy of the pictures taken when it was brand new. Sorry for the small size/low res. The Photobucket photo was only 400x300 pixels, and the originals I posted to the old forum and the...

Purple dyed Strat, 18 years later

It's Warmoth's purple dye. I bought it as a Showcase body circa 2006.

Purple dyed Strat, 18 years later

I don’t tend to hop around a lot on guitars. I buy/assemble them with the exact specs that I want, then keep them forever, lol. Here’s another pic, all strung up in the morning light:

Purple dyed Strat, 18 years later

My 18 (almost 19) year-old Strat got some much needed TLC today with a shiny, new set of Graph Tech Ratio tuners. The Sperzels I originally installed were already 10 years old when I got them (new Sperzels were out of stock everywhere when I first put this build together), and the action had...

    Pickup routing on Showcase bodies

Can you no longer have S-S-S Strat bodies from the Showcase routed out for H-S-H configuration? I was perusing the Showcase after a long time away, and noticed it's no longer included in the drop down menus: If so, that's a damned shame. I always order my bodies H-S-H to give me options in...

New video: Top 5 Secret Warmoth options

I have been know to be crazy before! Still, though, I'd 100% order a smaller Warhead headstock for a Tele build. The standard Warhead is too big and doesn't balance well, in my opinion.

New video: Top 5 Secret Warmoth options

It might have been a custom headstock a forum member made as a sort of Warhead-esque tribute for their Tele build, or I might be completely crazy. It had a more subdued curve to the bottom edge of the headstock, sort of like a Tele vs a Strat, but it still had the ditinctive hook at the end...

New video: Top 5 Secret Warmoth options

If I remember correctly, you used to be able to call and have any strat or CBS-style headstock cut down to a Warhead-style headstock. Is that still a thing? I also very vaguely remember seeing a post about a Tele/Warhead hybrid headstock that was made a bunch of years ago, but I've searched...

    Rosewood Thinline Resurrected!

Hey Bagman.  It's good to be back.  I don't currently have any desire for another guitar build, but I've wanted a short-scale P-bass for the longest time.  Maybe sometime next year.  :-)

    Rosewood Thinline Resurrected!

It's been a hot minute since I've been active on UW (my post history says December 22, 2013) and almost eight years since I first slapped it together, but I think I'm finally happy with my rosewood Tele Thinline.  She's much the same as she once was, except she's now wearing a new, custom-cut...

    Smits pickups

Rio Grandes are excellent, but they're expensive as all hell now.  I got mine circa 2006 and they were much more reasonable back then.  Warmoth used to sell the single coils for $60ish a piece if I remember correctly.  Now they're $85-95 each straight from Rio Grande, too rich for my blood.  I...

    Any fellow watch-lovers here?

I need to get the capacitor changed.  I bought it from a coworker who had kept it new-in-box in his closet for the past few years.  The energy storage capacitor *cough*cough*rechargeable battery*cough* loses it ability to hold a charge if left dead for long periods of time, and years in the...

    Any fellow watch-lovers here?

I'm late to the party, but I just picked up this Le Grand Sport for a song and thought I would share.  It's not nearly as sexy as some (most) of the other watches in this thread, but it's my first grown up watch, and I like it.  :toothy11:
