Does it sound electrical, like an extra umph of current? Does adjusting the tone or volume Pot do anything?

I've built two jazzmasyer using warmoth body and necks and found no need for a shim, though one is a hard tail, and the other is a strat gotoh 510 trem. What kind of bridge are you using.

I looked at mine from two years ago, the only change is I have to click on them to make them bigger.

I don't know if he's still in business, but an excellent luthier, Gary Fried moved out of Brooklyn and de-camped to LA. I'd suggest google and find him. He's great!
