My first build turned out to be a fail. What are my options?

Standard strat. Alder body with modern roasted maple neck. Technically the build seems impeccable, the neck fits the body like a glove, and playability is great, but one defect is quickly becoming a showstopper for me: something is very wrong with the way 3rd string resonates when fretted from...

Finally met the dreadful "dead spot" thing.

Honeymoon with my first warmoth strat build came to abrupt end. Two days ago noticed, that 3rd string on 14th fret sustains ~ twice shorter, than the other strings. It starts to get worse around 12 fret, gets to worst at 14, and after 15 quickly gets better. The worst thing, it doesn't seem to...

warmoth strat: neck removal for pickups switch?

Warmoth standard strat body, modern construction neck. Either I'm really stupid, or... I have to unscrew the neck for pickups change. :help: Because no way I can (un)slide pickguard with mounted pickups underneath the installed neck. Could anyone, please, either confirm it, or point me to my...

    Wipe-on poly nightmare

Sigh... Everything was going perfectly well with danish oil... Till after 6 layers I decided, as a finish touch, to put on couple layers of Arm-r-Seal, to add hardness and sheen. The problem is trivial. No matter how hard I try, there's always some vey visible imperfection left after poly dries...

Raising/sanding wood grain before danish oil - needed or not?

Hi everyone. The question is - if I plan to finish the alder body in danish oil (multiple layers), do I need to moisture body first, and then sand off the raised grain, before oiling? Or not necessary? Just for the record -  I do not plan applying anything water-based, neither before nor after...

unfinished body with installed bridge inserts

Hi everyone. Sorry if my question is stupid, but I'll ask anyway. For unfinished strat body, if plan is to apply some simple oil-based finish (multiple layers of danish oil, or minwax tungoil etc.), is it Ok to have warmoth install bridge inserts? Or they somehow will be in the way of finishing...

    aftermarket strat hardtail routing

Hi everyone. I didn't do a single warmoth build yet, but soon. As one of the options I consider is a hardtail strat, I decided to align to myself warmoth routing options with some aftermarket fixed bridges. I only considered 3-point bridges, for which warmoth routes free of charge. First, I...

Which ferrules for hardtail narrow-spaced strat?

Hello everyone. The thread title says it. I'm frustrated which ferrules should I order for narrow-spaced hardtail routing. I suspect that "but the string through holes are drilled larger" sentence only assumes holes on the top of the body, while rear string-through holes, though which strings...
