    Contoured Heel

Hi guys, I haven't logged onto this forum in ages, but I've been building Warmoths regularly, with my total count being over 20 builds now. A member sent me an e-mail asking about an old post & more info of my contoured heels, so I decided to log back on & post some pics. The thing that has...

    New Warmoth Tele

As good as this build looks, the luthier who put it together & set it up really screwed up. Badly cut nut, no relief on neck, not intonated properly, cheap Chinese jack used instead of the high end one I supplied, poor fret job etc.  :sad1: Off to another luthier to bring it back to life.

Chambered Ash Body & Mahogany neck???

I'm thinking of a chambered Ash Strat w/ a mahogany/rosewood neck for my next build. I haven't seen this combo anywhere & was wondering if anyone has tried this before.

Not finishing a body & neck

I plugged directly into the amp. Same cord, no pedals, all dials the same. The guitar definitely doesn't sound the same with a poly coat than when totally unfinished.

Not finishing a body & neck

For my next build, I want to have a mahogany body & neck that are unfinished, so the wood will breath, & hopefully produce a truer more organic tone.... I hope. I was thinking of using either tru oil, warwick wax or maybe tung oil. Does anyone have any tips of what the best method would be to...

    Black Lima Soloist

I actually changed the pots over to 250s & it sounds much warmer. I think SS frets tend to make guitars a tad too high endy for me. They last forever & feel great, but nickel sounds warmer imo. Changing over to 250k pots helped a lot.

    Black Lima Soloist

As long as a guitar looks good, the tone & play-ability is really not that important.  :icon_tongue:

    Brass Floyd Rose Blocks

I'm thinking of putting in some brass Floyd blocks & was wondering what experience people have had with them? Does it make a difference? Good bad, etc?

    Koa Knobs

I have a few Warmoth Koa strats & would like to get some really nice Koa knobs to match the top. Does anyone know of a site that sells Koa or other exotic wood knobs?

    EMG EXG Expander

I'm actually beginning to wonder if it's a faulty pot. The EMG tech swore he hadn't heard of my problem in the 14 years he's been working there & said he would replace the unit. I will try this out & see what happens. I have one in my EMG PU guitar & it sounds fine, but then again, it's active...

    EMG EXG Expander

I've lived with it for 2 weeks & I don't like the brittleness & excess treble. The passive PUs now sound more sterile than before. Would it work to have a push/pull knob that would take the EMG pot out of the circuit when off & then back in when on?

    EMG EXG Expander

I spoke to the tech at EMG & he said such a thing is impossible & he's never heard of it. This sounds a little suspect to me, as I also saw this problem in a review on Musician's Friend on this product. What do you think can be done to fix this?

    EMG EXG Expander

According to EMG, the EXG Expander should have no effect on the tone of a passive pickup when installed. However, it definitely does change the tone. What do you suggest? Do you think it's a faulty unit?

    EMG EXG Expander

I just put this into as a guitar with passive pickups & even in the off position, it's affecting the tone, making it a bit more trebly. Does anyone have an EMG EXG Expander with passive pickups & experiencing this problem?
