While I'm not working on an electric guitar this time the problem is the same: I have a new ebony fingerboard already slotted, fret wire pre-radiuses (slightly over-radiuses).
Tap the two ends first and then gently hammer the fret in. In most cases that goes smoothly, but there's always so far a...
Curiosity got the better of me when Warmoth released a short run of new flake finishes last week, but ultimately I really don't need to build yet another Strat.
Specs are straightforward:
- Basilisk flake finish
- Lightweight: 4lbs 0oz
- Ash body
Re-using this thread to put for sale the following recently finished Musikraft neck.
Selling price: $490 shipped. Payment by Zelle / check / money order only.
That's well below the cost of raw materials: neck alone w/o finish/nut/tuners/rolled fingerboard edges was $407 (would be considerably...
I FINALLY finished this Soloist build with Warhead neck for a friend.
Here the's build thread:

The time-lapse staining the curly maple top:

and the beauty shots of the assembled guitar (no knobs because he...
Just noticed Modern construction neck I ordered last summer, stained in December, and finally got back from the finish shop couple weeks ago has in fact developed a massive back bow even without tightening the truss rod at all.
No idea if that happened while storing it before staining, after...
This neck is intended for a build of mine, but I have enough HH guitars and considering selling it instead.
Neck cost me $442.
This is what I'm listing at including shipping; as a major bonus you get heavily rolled fingerboard edges as a bonus (that stuff takes well over 3-4 hours to do)...
This one has been on my mind since last year when I got to play a PRS Private Stock that had an ash neck and body; this gave the guitar a very 'airy' tone.
The look was 'interesting' and not something I was fond of at first, but I'm quite open to that cerused look now:
Neck: Sound Guitar...
Received this one about a month ago and decided instead to go for a carved top version (I sent my own curl maple laminate top, more on that in an upcoming thread).
Body was right about $700 brand new, the top itself was $330.
The top was hand-picked at a time when the unique choice section had...
So much flame top drama lately, here's a body that doesn't have one :laughing11:
I got that one 3+months ago from Warmoth and made a few modifications (Fender-style contoured heel and Fender Eric Clapton midboost+battery cavities) to it before sending it to a finishing shop.
Up for sale is this one off beauty you may recognize:
- Soloist burl maple top with swamp ash back
- SSS routing shielded and with machines inserts for painless pickup height adjustment
- hand stained in 'charcoal glow'
- Satin finish with dog hair back and sides and matching backplate...
This weird idea of doing a candy pink Strat stems from re-using the neck I was planning to initially use for this build:
https://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=32743.15
I wanted to do a more 'normal' build without fancy dyed quilt/curly maple tops for a change.
To recap I was...
It's one of those where GAS hit hard, hard enough that I might actually sell it at cost: Soloist unique choice curly koa top, roasted alder, gloss finish.
And those are just with indirect/diffuse daylight...:
As mentioned in https://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=33232.0
I can finally make Warmoth (and PRS too) backplates for Warmoth's rear routed cavities. For now I only have traced the more commonly used oval shaped one (sorry Regal/etc owners).
Usually $30-$40 + shipping depending on...
As you may have seen from my past builds I like making wood control backplates and truss rod covers.
When it comes to backplates the process using a router and template can be way too time consuming and as a result I only made backplates for my own guitars.
Until now...
I'm happy to report...
This is a build I'm working on for a friend.
The body was ordered with this top:
A month or so later, this showed up:
Drilled it for 1 volume, 1 tone.
Also extended routing for the switch so the switch blade doesn't touch the wood and damage the finish in positions 1/5.
I wonder if...
I'm considering making wood knobs with a friend's CNC, how do you call those threaded 'screws' that are used on wood and metal knobs to lock the knob onto the pot's shaft ?
I just had an 'interesting' experience today with an Apple Watch I sold beginning of November.
It was shipped insured and with signature and it got delivered the 1st week of November.
I never ever heard of the buyer since, all seemed well.
This morning I got an email from PayPal saying a case...
I posted this one in the "Just out of the box" a few weeks ago and I'm getting closer to the idea of dyeing it:
To recap some of the crazy color schemes I tried recently staining PRS parts:
- Ultra Pink:
- PRS Private Stock-style Aqua Violet:
Tutorial posted here...
This one showed this morning:
It was ordered around 3 weeks ago when the laminate tops got updated with some pretty incredible quilt tops.
Not sure yet about which finish I'll do on this one. I have a few dyes experiment to do to figure that out.
