The official set is two 1.75” and two 1.5” as you say, but i read in a thread on here that one of the 1.75” is kinda “pushing it” lengthwise, and that the ideal length would be *between* 1.5 and 1.75”
The thread said that a 1.5” would work OK if an intermediate size wasn’t available, and my...
I think it’s something like a kind of collective cultural trauma processing mechanism. Sorta like how people will wear a T-shirt with Jason Voorhees or other horror characters, fictional or real, not because they necessarily endorse the activities of the figure, but because its image has the...
Thanks! Yeah I meant shift the bridge away from the nut (e.g., get a body without an existing bridge route and position the bridge according to the scale length)
Spud’s idea of trying new compensating mounting holes in the neck heel seems attractive because if it could be made to work, a...
The difference is about 20mm and change, which is longer than the free space at the butt end of the heel, so i’m not sure that would be viable with a standard 4-bolt layout ,
but maybe a _modified_ bolt layout could work
That’s an interesting idea — the mounting holes in the neck, i guess you mean— i wonder if there’s enough room at the heel —
thanks for the idea! I’m gonna check and see if that’ll work, it’d definitely be less ugly than scooting the bridge
Yeah indeed—
The neck is a standard 25.5” scale length, BUT
the wrinkle is that it’s a 20-fret neck and the mounting holes at the heel are almost an inch closer to the nut than they are on a standard Fender neck
which means (i reckon) the bridge will need to be scooted back by the same...
That’s correct— the heel is incompatible with a normal body neck pocket— my plan is to modify an existing neck pocket (by hook or by crook)
Here’s the weird heel design— i’m sure they had a reason to deviate from their electric neck design, but it is inconvenient for us living in the future
The Hipshots look very cool, but the specs indicate they require a 10mm (13/32”) shaft hole, so i’d have to slightly drill or ream out the originals, which i’m not eager to do
Thanks all for your kind help + guidance!
Looks like vintage Fender type is indeed the answer— bore diameter checks out and i think the lower holes must be from another aftermarket tuner set.
Yall are the best!
