    Annoying Neck problem

    Is your neck finished?

    Rear route thicknees

The thickness on my finished LPS Flattop was about 3/16". That was fine for the pots but required back boring to make the toggle switch fit. There is a very short threaded collar on the switch.

The ultimate warmoth neck and fret quality poll!!

How could a manufacturer dress frets not knowing the string guage and setup preferences of the user? Moreover, each piece of wood bends differently. You won't know what frets will be high or low until you bolt it on, string it up and adjust for play. Fret levelling is not something a replacement...

    Received my 7/8s S

That hole is a CNC index hole which secures and aligns the body on the CNC table when we rout the back of the body. It exists in the bridge pickup location and is usually removed when we rout a bridge position pickup.  A similar hole exists on the back of the body that usually becomes one of the...

12th fret dot spacing on Mustang necks

You're not doing a build because of dot spacing?

Fender 3 bolt-on and Warmoth VM neck

Yes. If you are thinking of drilling an existing Vintage Modern with headstock adjust truss rod, yes, the truss rod is out of the way for 3 bolt heel drilling. Or you can order one with the 3 bolt and microtilt routs. http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Necks/NeckHeelMounting.aspx)

To cover or not to cover ? (Trem cover)

Uncovered. Under high-gain situations the springs can sometimes ring and sound like rattly reverb if left undampend. I have this problem less when they are left uncovered and I can press them against my shirt.

    Split Neck

And why did the neck crack there in the first place, excessive use of the truss rod? You may have a horribly warped neck there even after you get it glued up. Good luck.

    Obnoxiously bright bass

Or try a 500k volume pot. :headbang:

Question for W builders: What's so bad about a "mutt" W/Fender?

It's funny. Like Aaronic I had a MIJ Strat that was dull and lifeless. It was fine for high gain situations but lacked a tone of acceptible character for lowgain use. I replaced the neck, bridge, and pickups but never got anything sonorous and sustaining until I replaced the body. By then I had...

    Tom P.'s eBay Project

The 1.988 written on the heel is the nutwidth in inches. And the 6105 is the fretsize. Cool Project!!

    Generic Floyd Shelf

The generic Floyd shelf occurs on tilt-back headstock necks destined for Floyd use and it provides an ample fretboard-matching wood base for the future Floyd nut. The truss rod on such necks is also moved out towards the headstock a little. Otherwise, to add a Floyd Nut Prep on existing normal...

    Fender Bushings

Sounds like you need to open the holes - either with a drill bit between your fingers, or sandpaper around a pencil.

Warmoth Vintage Explorer Copy - UPDATE 1/25/10

Any straight headstock that splays the strings, like the KWS, is definitely going to need string retainers to keep them down in the slots.

    Some beginner questions

Hi, Graham, and welcome. It looks like you are well on your way. Your preparation will make things a lot easier. Now, the questions- 1) It seems like the standard on this site is 25.5 scale, but I want to go with 24 3/4.  Is the LP body scaled up to fit the longer (default) neck, or is it the...

Warmoth Pro 12 string adjustment question

Sounds like you should back the sidewinder back to neutral and take up more tension with the butt nut. The adjustment nut at the end of the neck ('butt nut') should be used for your initial set up (gross adjustments) and then use the sidewinder for small seasonal adjustments (fine adjustments)...

    Floyd rose neck radius? what?!

The 10" to 16" compound fretboard radius projects to be about 18" radius at the bridge. For the most consistent action across all strings and along all frets your saddles should be arrayed in a radius close to this 18". Bridge saddles that are individually adjustable for height have no problem...

    UK Customs

Hi, Matt, A week is not uncommon. But this time of year I would expect 4 to 5 days. I have seen it take as long as 6 weeks during the Christmas rush! US Postal Services (Priority International and First Class International) have to go through customs, and you often save money thereby. UPS...
