The ultimate warmoth neck and fret quality poll!!

I've never had a problem with Warmoth necks. I've had two five string bass necks, one fretted, one lined fretless. My only complaint about Warmoth necks is that I wish there were an option to use graphite stiffening rods rather than the steel rods, to cut down on the weight. Otherwise, I am...

    Halfmoth Bass

My next project is my own body design that I'll get a Warmoth neck for, pretty soon. The body is Flamed Maple on Sapele, with an awesome Pat Wilkins finish. Pickups are Bartolini BC routs and I have a Carvin preamp for it. It is a 34" scale 5 string.

    Five String Custom Shape

That would explain a lot! Hahaha, or maybe a Rickenwick?? Thanks for all the great comments, folks. I've recently begun an apprenticeship with Gadow Guitars, so hopefully I'll be doing bigger and better things as I learn more. I've got some great pieces of wood lined up for the next build!!

    Five String Custom Shape

Well have a centerline on the body-- the joint between the two pieces of flame maple, and I have a centerline on the neck pocket template that lines up with the body centerline. Then I found that Hipshot has dimension drawings available: http://www.hipshotproducts.com/files/all/5stgastyle.pdf...

    Five String Custom Shape

I can duplicate my Warmoth neck pocket template and send it to you for $25.00. I'm not sure I can find it, I am in the middle of a move, so it may be packed away. If you want me to make you one it will take a few days.

    Five String Custom Shape

Thanks for the compliments, everyone. I wouldn't call it "easy" to do. I would call it "tricky," "risky," or "scary," depending on how attached you are to the body it is going on and how much you stand to lose if you blow it. You could always practice on a piece of junk wood, I suppose. That...

    Five String Custom Shape

^^ Gotta be a Ritter. lol, yeah I wouldn't have put so many except the neck pocket isn't very long compared to a Fender, so I thought it would be a good idea to beef it up a little.

    Five String Custom Shape

This is a Warmoth Deluxe Five neck with a Mahogany body I bought off eBay. The body was partially routed for a 6 string neck and needed substantial cleaning up and re-shaping. I planed off the 6 string neck pocket, added a 4A flamed maple top and re-routed the neck pocket for a Fender 5 string...

    Krank n stein

Well they did an awesome job on it.  I guess they did the neck, too?  I love that headstock.

    Krank n stein

So, I know I'm way behind on this, but what is a Krank n Stein and who made it?

    Staining poplar is unpredictable

I'm wondering about the clear coat also... I think the guitar came out nice, btw.

Project Natal - Microsoft's New XBOX Toy

I've got an XBox and had the 3 red ring problem.  Sent back to MS and problem solved, no cost to me.  I used to play it all the time, but I just keep it around for the kids now.  I bought a new PS2 for $99 and a gazillion used games about a month ago and have had a blast.  All these cheap used...

    Am I Crazy?

Yeah, no doubt that it is the same guitar, but I think the plastic hardware looks better than the wood stuff.  The color of the wood rings just doesn't look right against the green. Sweet looking guitar, either way.

    Gecko 6 in progress

So did you impregnate the wood with epoxy before the finish? What is the weight like on that? It's incredible looking, btw.

    Here's a bodystyle Warmoth hasn't thought of!

That is exactly the first thing that popped into my head, too.  And then Max had to go posting the toothache vid...  OUCH.  Thanks Max.  :laughing7:

    Wiring help

I've had the copper tape shielding touching bare wire before, shorting out the circuit.  These can be tough to find sometimes.

    shielding paint

I have heard that the shielding paint is pretty toxic, so be careful.  I don't have any confirmation of this. Also, I started a thread on the benefits of shielding here: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=3583.0 I was curious because a respected luthier I know hates all of the...
