Diagnosing no sound from Guitar

Working on my first project guitar to learn how to do everything.  It's an old beat up Squire so I can make mistakes, etc. without much risk.

The first time I replaced pickguard and pickup covers I was getting sound...  crappy sound, but I was getting sound.

I had mounted the coils wrong so I had to unscrew everything and mount the pickups to the new pickguard a 2nd time, and after this I've got no sound coming out of guitar.

Could I have mishandled the pickups or damaged a solder joint?  Or should I be checking the jack first?

I should add that I also remounted the trem bridge and it had a ground wire on the trem claw, but I don't think I did any damage to it.

If it's truly no sound (that is, no hum or noise), then you have shorted the hot lead to ground somewhere.

Get that electrician wife of yours to check it out with the DMM.  :headbang:

I found where I busted it.  Lead wire from jack.  Whoopsie!

A lil heat shrink around some of those connections goes a long way in durability.
Can be had on the cheap at Harbor Freight.
