Smits pickups

Anyone had any exposure to any pickups from Kevin Smit, http://smitspickups.com/ ? I am considering his stuff for an HSS Warmoth strat I am working on. Any opinions on Rio Grande pickups out there as well?

Thanks.

Rio Grandes are excellent, but they're expensive as all hell now.  I got mine circa 2006 and they were much more reasonable back then.  Warmoth used to sell the single coils for $60ish a piece if I remember correctly.  Now they're $85-95 each straight from Rio Grande, too rich for my blood.  I have two Tallboys and a Halfbreed in my SSS Strat and they sound awesome, but they are other awesome sounding pickups available for less than $250 a set (humbuckers are even more expensive).

I've played Rio Grandes in a couple Robin axes at a local shop.  They were nice enough, but not outstanding in the field.  Haven't had a chance to put them through their paces in an ensemble setting, however.

Never heard of the Smit product before.

I am always happy to promote the wares of Roadhouse Pickups, one of our brothers here on the forum - he goes by TroubledTreble here, and also has a website at http://www.roadhouspickups.com.  He makes great custom wound pups at a very reasonable price.

GFS Neovins and Trucoil pups are a great buy too - they compare favorably with noiseless single coils available at any price.  Don't let the shockingly low made-in-China pricetag scare you off.
